WV Beats Ohio in OVAC All-Star Football Game

The West Virginia All-Stars used a rock solid defense to defeat the Ohio Stars 24-3 in the annual Rudy Mumley Ohio Valley Athletic Conference All-Star Charity Football Classic.

West Virginia held Ohio to minus-6 yards rushing and 62-yards in total offense to give the Mountaineer State its second straight victory in the all-star game.

Rosters Announced for Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Football Classic

The West Virginia and Ohio rosters for the annual Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Football Classic have been announced.

This year's game will be played July 24th at Wheeling Island Stadium.  The West Virginia All-Stars will be coached by Mark Batton of Magnolia.

With the first day of practice beginning August 2nd, I wanted to take the time to thank all of my readers, who have made this blog successful over the past three years.  I have bigger-and-better things planned this year with more original content.

Here's a look at important dates for the 2010 season...

Match-ups Announced for McDonald's OVAC Kickoff Night in West Virginia and Ohio

The Ohio Valley Football and Band Jamboree is now known as the McDonald's OVAC Kickoff Night presented by Trinity Health System.

On Wednesday officials announced the line-up for the four-game opening night celebration on August 26th in Wheeling and Steubenville, Ohio.

The Intelligencer/Wheeling News-Register reports that the biggest game will be at Harding stadium in Steubenville where the Big Red will have a rematch against Inkster (Michigan).  Last year, Inkster beat Steubenville snapping its 69-game regular season win streak.

Finalists for Parkersburg Head Football Coaching Position

According to the West Virginia Metro News, the Parkersburg School District is considering ten finalists for the head coach of the Big Reds.

The opening was created at the end of the season when Bernie Buttrey resigned after eight years as head coach with a 66-30 record and two state championships in 2006 and 2007.

Madonna Wins West Virginia Class A Football Title

Madonna High School ended a 22-year drought by beating Man 27-7 to win the West Virginia Class A football championship.

The Intelligencer & Wheeling News-Register reports that Madonna was led by quarterback Max Nogay, who was named the game MVP. It was the Blue Dons first state title since 1987.
